Then, 5 years later, Buttercup is still relatively innocent, she is still a farmer's daughter, she is still inexperienced in the ways of the world. It appears both of them are somewhat naive from what we see on screen. The power dynamic is pretty clear, Buttercup has all the authority. As viewers, we don't know either of their backgrounds, but it seems as if Buttercup doesn't have parents, and it's unclear if Westley has any family either. He obeys her every whim and eventually, she comes to love him for it. In Buttercup's fiftieth hour of labor, Westley cries as she slips away. As the invader takes over, Fezzik begs for it to kill him before it kills Buttercup's baby. Fezzik gasps and tries to fight as something invades his brain. It starts off with Buttercup being the landowner of a farm bossing the help (Westley) around. Westley holds Buttercup as she grows weaker and weaker.
